President’s Message
As we anticipate the arrival of another Cabin Season, we can reflect on the many things that have happened in the past two years. We have installed a set of swings in the playground next to the covered structure. This was accomplished by generous donations and funds from the membership. A special thanks to all who donated, especially Elaine Raynor who donated $1,000.00 towards the project.
A new bench was added and another relocated beside the playground. Two trees were planted for shade and landscaping done around them. The new bench was donated by Elaine Raynor in memory of her late husband Keith. Again, thanks for her generous donation of $1,400.00.
Last year we added 20 yards of sand to the playground donated by Freestyle Landscaping Inc. The transportation was paid for by Katie and Eric from Heart to Home Construction. Also, thanks to Brain Kazuk for bringing his skid steer out to level the sand. He did a marvelous job. A new bike rack was installed to accommodate people attending our activities taking place in the covered structure.
The horseshoe pits were completely rebuilt. The old railway ties were removed and new 6x6 beams installed around the pitches. Fresh sand was added and the backstops repainted. The landscaping around the pitches will be completed this spring. Thanks Jim Furtado for digging out all the old railway ties from the horseshoe pits and digging out the holes for the new pits.
The Pathway at the bottom of 1st beach stairs was rebuilt. The basketball back board was replaced and the lines on the court were refreshed.
Last, but not least, is the carving of our new Mascot named “Lakeshore Romeo”. He is a carving of a Wood Spirit by Jacque St Amant on the backside of this 250-year-old oak tree standing in front of our covered structure. The front side of the tree was hollowed out and a seat installed making it a favorite photo opp. Thank you to Steve and Sharon Strong of 140 Bayview for donating the plastic cap on top that protects him from the elements.
None of these Projects and Events would be possible without the revenue generated by the Membership Fees and Generous Donations by our members.
None would be completed without the countless hours spent by Volunteers within our community.
For that I say Thank You
For those of you who spend winter here, keep warm.
For those of you who travel to a warmer climate, stay safe.
